How to Depot an Eyeshadow in 1 Minute or Less

When I bought a single shadow from NYX Cosmetics, I was really excited to depot it… however- the shadow case, was completely attached, with absolutely no inner tray to remove, like the MAC single shadows.

So, I removed the back sticker, and what did I find? I little hole in the bottom of the shadow case, with, what looked like, the bottom of the shadow pan. So here’s what I did, and it took less than a minute.

Step 1:
Remove the sticker…

Step 2:
Grab a Q-tip and soak it in nail polish remover. Squeeze as much nail polish remover into the hole as you can.

Step 3:
Leave the shadow upside down for about 30 seconds.

Step 4:
Take a pen or another pointy object that will fit into the hole and push sternly. (Excuse the nails… lol)

Step 5:
The shadow will pop out and now you have a perfectly depotted shadow.

I’ve noticed that a lot of shadows have holes in the back of their cases. L.A. Colors palettes have the same holes (four of them) behind the label as well, so if you wanted to depot those, use this same method!

Next time you want to depot an eyeshadow, remove the back sticker first to see if you can use this method because it’s a lot easier than the alcohol or heat method!

Cheers ladies 🙂
